Peri's Tavern now accepts credit cards
This piano bar, which once only took cash, has recently added credit card payment at the door. Peri's Tavern was owned by Frankie Peri, who was the ticket office manager for the Grateful Dead. Scott Peri, Frankie's son, is now the general manager of the establishment. Scott spent more than two decades working as a production manager for the Grateful Dead. Scott inherited the piano bar when his father died.
The establishment has been a staple of Fairfax's rock scene before the earthquake, with live performances almost every night. Rock bands from the area would play here, as did San Francisco aristocrats. Today, the bar still hosts local bands and aristocratic diners. Credit card payments are now accepted for live music Fairfax – Mac's at 19 Broadway.
McCarthy's second go round at 19 Broadway
The new manager of McCarthy's Bar on Broadway, Mike Ghiringhelli, has a simple goal: give the old 19 Broadway a new lease on life. He hopes to make it an even better place to visit than it was before. His passion for bringing old bartenders back to life is evident in the bar's newly remodeled bar and dining room. The former co-owner of 19 Broadway has a special token on his key chain, commemorating his final shift.
After closing down the first bar in Fairfax, CA, McCarthy opened a new location a few years later. This new location features upscale cocktails and a VIP room. The former Ghiringhelli family's bar at 19 Broadway is a historic landmark and is a short walk from Mount Tam Golf Course. The Fairfax location is also within walking distance of a number of other restaurants. In addition, McCarthy's 1819 Broadway is a historic landmark.
